The hydrodynamics and water quality of the Astien aquifer (Montpellier) are strongly influenced by its dense urban cover. Of particular interest are aquifers rising to reach underground structures and building parts, the possible use of raw water for municipal gardening and street cleaning, and the preservation of middle age-dated wells.

Tjis research is threefold: (i) assess the impact of a growing urbanisation on the hydrodynamic behaviour of the porous aquifer by investing its various recharge modes and its response to intense rainfall events, (ii) assess groundwater contamination due to human activities, and (iii) devise a specific study methodology for urban aquifers.
